<image:caption>Using Dr. Howard Gardner’s “Theory of Multiple Intelligences”, the curriculum is designed to provide young children with a unique learning experience. The main objective of our programs are to ensure a safe and nurturing environment, where children are provided with numerous opportunities to develop their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. Children are encouraged to develop each of these areas at their own pace.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - our story</image:title>
<image:caption>Interestingly, Michelle was originally hired to replace Lori in her position as Preschool Teacher in a child care center in Avon. When Lori discovered she couldn’t bear to leave her position at that point, she decided to stay, and the duo worked side-by-side for many years together. It was during that time they discovered a shared dream to become entrepreneurs, and work with children, and so began The Children’s Clubhouse. With both owners having an education background, you know their hearts are in the right place!</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - our goal</image:title>
<image:caption>By allowing young children to build and expand their understanding of the world around them, they will be armed with more than one way to approach learning in a traditional school setting. It is our intent that our children will be better problem solvers, better able to absorb new information, more creative, more confident learners, enabling them to fit into more of the “molds” of society. With any luck, they may even create a new mold or two themselves!</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - our approach</image:title>
<image:caption>The Children’s Clubhouse acknowledges the need to develop the “staples”, including but not limited to: cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. The twist in the center’s philosophy involves the means by which the curriculum is driven. Using Dr. Howard Gardner’s “Theory of Multiple Intelligences”, the curriculum is designed to provide young children with a unique learning experience. Built on nearly 40 years of documented scientific research, Gardner suggests that much of our potential to learn can potentially be stifled by traditional teaching methods. The center's curriculum is designed to provide a learning atmosphere which encourages children to strengthen and cross-reference all of their areas of development.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Infant Experience - INFANT EXPERIENCE</image:title>
<image:caption>The initial exploration for this age group is primarily focused on self-awareness. This program centers on a warm, affectionate, and attentive environment, where the children feel safe and secure in the discovery of themselves and their surroundings. By acknowledging the intrinsic nature of the power and potential of the awakening mind, found in these, the youngest of all learners, the intent is to provide pathways to open the intellectual “floodgates“ and allow “connections“ to be made in all areas of development. Using current brain-research development theory, curriculum includes activities such as music, stories, finger-plays, simple art projects, and playtime. Fostering interactions which encourage sensory, physical, social, emotional and cognitive experiences, provides the infant learner with an opportunity to discover how their actions have an impact on their surroundings.</image:caption>

      <image:title>One's Experience - one’s EXPERIENCE</image:title>
<image:caption>The one-year old program introduces the children to the process of “process”, and teaches them the learning in “exposure”. Through repetitive use of concrete materials, children learn to manipulate objects within their surroundings in various ways. They are encouraged to experiment with their “total” development. This includes the areas of language, gross motor, fine motor, music, spatial, mathematics, intra and interpersonal skills– all of which are addressed through the use of The Multiple Intelligence Theory. The curriculum includes the teaching of sign language and incorporates the latest techniques in brain research. The emphasis is on building connections through experiential learning. The children are nurtured to develop a permanent positive means for interacting with both their peers and adults.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Two's Experience - two’s EXPERIENCE</image:title>
<image:caption>The toddler program is a skill-based, developmentally appropriate program, based upon The Multiple Intelligence Theory. The program targets the development of skills and concepts primarily in the areas of self-help, social/emotional, cognition language. The emphasis is on hands-on, active learning that encourages the development of the “total” child. The activities, concepts, and skills presented throughout the course of the curriculum move from pre-operational (process and exposure) to concrete/operational. In the concrete/operational phase of development, children are expected to “know” what’s expected of them, and proceed in a manner that reflects this basic understanding. The goal is to ensure a supportive growing experience for these little people, and provide them with opportunities to manipulate their environment in both traditional and creative ways.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Three's Experience - three’s experience</image:title>
<image:caption>This program formally introduces the children to the “workings” of The Multiple Intelligence Theory. Based on numerous teaching and learning strategies, including but not limited to, direct instruction, guided exploration, center-based learning and free exploration, the children are encouraged to discover. Created to “open their eyes”, the program is designed to heighten their awareness of both the living and non-living world that surrounds them. As the program progresses and the children develop a more in-depth awareness, they are then introduced to the formal “structures” that surround their existence and are encouraged to create new ways to both manipulate and function within those structures. Through the building of observation skills and promoting and encouraging “questioning” from the children, the natural curiosity of the 3-year old is harnessed and directed into a constructive learning process. In this way, the basis of the learning outcomes, provided by The Multiple Intelligence Theory, have been laid as a foundation for future reference.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Kindgarten Readiness - kindergarten readiness</image:title>
<image:caption>The readiness program focuses on the “learning” of the young learner. Children are guided to “think about how they think” in order to make sense of themselves, others, and their surroundings. They are encouraged to explore all aspects of their development, including self-reflection (intrapersonal skills) and how they fit in and function within a group (interpersonal skills). Ideas, skills and concepts are developed and fostered through the use of the “8 Intelligences” suggested in Dr. Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences). Basic kindergarten readiness skills, such as colors, shapes, number recognition, fine and gross motor, receptive and expressive language, are introduced, but not solely in the “traditional teaching” manner. Through the use of direct instruction, center-based learning, guided exploration, free exploration and student-directed learning, the children gain exposure though the many approaches to instruction, often seen in a kindergarten classroom.</image:caption>

      <image:title>School-Age Enrichment - school-age enrichment</image:title>
<image:caption>Because these children are already enrolled in formal schooling, The Clubhouse has taken advantage of the opportunity to provide what most would consider an enrichment program. Our project-based curriculum takes the gifted and talented philosophy of teaching and fuses it with the Multiple Intelligence Theory, thereby creating an exciting and unique classroom experience. The classroom is designed to be very comfortable, as well as inspiring. Items which promote curiosity, are placed throughout the room and activities are designed to expand the thought process beyond “traditional” views. The children are encouraged to perform daily tasks, such as, helping to prepare and serve snack, set up and cleanup. They are also actively involved in designing and initiating activities. Our main focus in the school-age program is to foster a child’s positive self-concept. Through the development of both inter and intrapersonal skills, we are able to facilitate and support the children in their efforts to discover themselves and others. By providing positive experiences, encouraging children to ask questions and investigate their surroundings, we hope to allow them the means by which to gain multiple perspectives within their daily environments, in order to secure life-long learning.</image:caption>
